An open collective is a voluntary and dynamic group of people sharing common goals and values, combining the scale and instantaneous connectivity of digital platforms with the kinship of physical space and face-to-face interaction. As permeable hybrid physical/digital networks, open collectives are designed to expand and contract in both members and functions — economic, environmental, and/or social — and encourage new forms of sharing.
Collective dimensions seek to quantify the qualities of open collectives: the economic motivation, membership/size, porosity and openness to new members, the platform on which the collective exists, and the manner in which the collective is governed.
Explore the Archive Add a CollectiveThis is an opportunity for the community to add collectives they know about or participate in. Using the form on the next page, you can add information about a collective including the name, description, image, and its characteristics on the dimensions used in the archive.
Your submission will be included on the site, and visitors will have the chance to learn more about a collective you know.
